September 15, 16, & 17, 2006
Invitation: The Canadian Albacore Association (CAA) as the organizing authority and the Nepean Sailing Club (NSC) as hosts invite you to attend the 2006 WaveRate Canadian Albacore Championship Regatta to be held Friday through Sunday, September 15 – 17, 2006.
Site: The 2006 WaveRate Canadian Albacore Championship will be held on Lac Deschenes.
Eligibility/Entry: The 2006 WaveRate Canadian Albacore Championship Regatta is open to Albacore class sailors who meet all class membership and yacht measurement requirements and who have paid all event fees before beginning official competition.  All entrants must be members in good standing of the CAA and/or USAA/or another recognized National Albacore Association.  A yachts sail number shall match her hull number as per class rules. All competitors shall carry the required safety equipment as designated by the Canadian Coast Guard.  There will be a Championship fleet and a Challengers fleet.  Helms who have won the Challenger fleet trophy are not eligible to helm in the Challenger fleet. Sailing Instructions will be posted on or before September 1st, 2006.
Rules: The 2006 WaveRate Canadian Albacore Championship Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
Scoring: The low point scoring system will apply.  The completion of one (1) race constitutes a series.  When five (5) or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.  The intent is to complete at least seven (7) races.
Measurement: All boats must be accompanied with a valid measurement certificate and a current buoyancy endorsement.  All boats must comply with CAA measurement specifications for this event.  There will be no measurement endorsements available at this regatta.

Waiver & Fees:
On site registration at the Nepean Sailing Club will be available. All helms and crews are required to check in & sign waiver forms prior to racing.   The entry fee for the Championship fleet is $175.00.  Thanks to the generous sponsorship of WaveRate Communications, the entry fee for the Challenger fleet is $50.00.  Entry fee includes all racing, regatta awards, Friday and Saturday dinner.  Fleet selection as well as determining eligibility for the awards listed below will be done at registration.  For further info contact Van Sheppard, albacore6700@yahoo.ca
Venue: Racing for the Championship fleet and the Challenger fleet will take place on the same course located in or around the Olympic Circle on the waters of Lac Deschenes.  
Berthing: The dinghy compound at the Nepean Sailing Club will be open to accommodate all visiting boats. 
Accommodations: The following have been reserved: 20 non-smoking rooms with two queen beds in each room at Days Inn Ottawa West, 350 Moodie Drive. Rate: $105 based on single or double occupancy.  Rate includes complementary continental breakfast, local telephone calls, high speed internet, refrigerator in every room, onsite laundry and parking.   Add $10.00 for each adult (over 17 yrs)/room. Awards to follow ASAP after racing.

Awards: The following Awards will be presented:
 
  • The Canadian Championship Trophy will be awarded to the helm of the winning boat in the Championship fleet.
  • The Top Crew Trophy will be awarded to the crew of the winning boat in the Championship fleet.
  • The Challenger B Fleet Trophy will be awarded to the helm of the winning boat in the Challenger fleet.
  • The Ladies Plate will be awarded to the top placing female helm in the Championship fleet.
  • The Master Trophy will be awarded to the top placing team in the Championship fleet whose total combined age is greater than 100 years.
  • The Family Trophy will be awarded to the top placing team in the regatta who are members of the same immediate family.
  • The Youth trophy will be awarded to the top placing team in the regatta who are both under 19 years of age at the time of the event.
  • The Beefeater Aggregate Trophy will be awarded to the team with the best aggregate score from the current Ontario Championships and the current Canadian Championships.
  • The Gooderham Trophy will be awarded to the team that has be best overall results in all of the regattas designated in the Gooderham series for the current year.
  • First through fifth place in the Championship fleet will receive keeper plaques.
  • First through third place in the Challenger fleet will receive keeper plaques.
