The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 (RRS).
Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board in the East Room of the Nepean Sailing Club.
Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0900 on the day it will take effect, except that any change to the schedule of races will be posted by 1800 on the day before it will take effect.
4.1 Signals made ashore will be displayed on the NSC Flagpole.
4.2 When flag AP is displayed ashore, ‘1 minute’ is replaced with ‘not less than 60 minutes’ in race signal AP.

5.2 When more than one race will be held on the same day, the warning signal for each succeeding race will be made as soon as practicable. To alert boats that another race will begin soon, multiple short sound signals will be made approximately one minute before a warning signal is displayed.
5.3 On Friday, no Warning signal will be made after 16:00.
5.4 On Saturday, no Warning signal will be made after 16:00.
5.5 On Sunday, no Warning signal will be made after 14:00.

The racing area will in the vicinity of the Olympic Circle, as indicated by the permanent yellow marks located approximately one mile west on Lac Deschenes of the NSC harbour entrance.
The diagrams in Attachment 1 show the courses, including the order in which marks are to be passed, the side on which each mark is to be left, and the flag, if any, associated with each course. The approximate course length will be set according to wind strength and should take approximately 50 minutes for the lead boat to finish.
9.1 Mark 1 will be either a large yellow ball or a large orange tetrahedron. A yellow or orange flag displayed on the Start/Finish Line Signal Boat at the Warning signal for a race will indicate the colour of Mark 1 for that race. Racers are strongly encouraged to observe which coloured flag is being displayed by the start line signal boat at the Warning signal.
9.2 Other marks will be yellow round inflatable marks.
9.3 The starting and finishing marks will be red flags on poles.
10.1 Races will be started using RRS Rule 26
10.2 The starting line will be between a Start mark and the mast of the Start/Finish Line Signal Boat.
10.3 The Start/Finish Line Signal Boat may utilise a “keep-away” mark. This mark will be an orange shape, and is an extension of the Start/Finish Line Signal Boat.
10.4 Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area.
10.5 A boat starting later than 4 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start. This changes rule A4.1.
A change of course after the start will be signalled before the leading boat has begun the leg, although the new mark may not be in position. The boat signalling the change of course will also display a red or green arrow to the new mark. Any mark to be rounded, after rounding the new mark may be relocated to maintain the original course configuration.
12.1 The finish line will be between a Finish mark and the mast of the Start/Finish Line Signal Boat.
12.2 Code flag “H” (red and white), flown by the RC boat while on station at the finish, shall indicate that no further races are to be started.
13.1 Time limits and target times are as follows:

13.2 Boats failing to finish within 30 minutes after the first boat sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish. This changes rules 35 and A4.1.
14.1 Protest forms are available at the race office. Protests shall be delivered there within the protest time limit.
14.2 For each fleet, the protest time limit is 60 minutes after Start/Finish Line Signal Boat returns to harbour after the last boat has finished the last race of the day.
15.1 The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.
15.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
(a) When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.
(b) When from five to eight races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
(c) When nine or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.
A boat that retires from a race shall notify the race committee as soon as possible.
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1 million per event or the equivalent.

Olympic and Modified Olympic will be the default courses.
Triangle and Modified Triange courses will be indicated by flying the ”T” Flag with the warning flag.
